
Britain hands over control of Chagos Islands to Mauritius

Despite a last minute injunction after a legal challenge from two Chagossian women, the deal between the UK and Mauritius to transfer the sovereignty of the archipelago in the Indian Ocean has gone ahead on Thursday. The islands are home to a UK-US military base and strategically important.
